First KBT-OPP Artists Residency
The first KBT-OPP residency was an active intervention, conducted in collaboration with the Orangi Pilot Project that aimed to bridge the disconnect between contemporary art discourses and the nuanced geopolitics that surrounds them. The focus of this residency was on mapping, which was OPP’s Parveen Rahman’s legacy, the means by which she empowered local communities to chart and record the land that they owned and were thus allotted rights to. Four artists, Abid Aslam, Ahsan Javaid, Hasnain Ali and Muneeb Aaqib were introduced to live at OPP, immersing them in the OPP environment, the scope of its projects, and areas of investigation, to create work that focused on the nucleus of the urban-periphery disconnect.
